National Savings Certificate is a government backed, fixed income investment option, best suited for those individuals who have conservative risk profile.
Just like Post Office Monthly Income Scheme and fixed deposits, NSCs are low risk products, wherein you won’t lose you principal and will be awarded with decent interest rate as well.

Minimum investment amount | Rs. 1000 and in multiples of Rs. 100 thereafter |
Certificate may be purchased by
(i) a single adult
(ii) Joint A Account (Maximum 3 adults)
(ii) Joint B Account (Maximum 3 adults)
(iv) Minor above 10 years of age
(iv) An adult on behalf of a minor.
(v) A guardian on behalf of a person of unsound mind
HUFs and companies cannot invest in NSCs.
Your deposits qualify for tax rebate under Sec. 80C of IT Act.
